Rutile Powder

Rutile Powder boasts high hardness, high refractive index and excellent weather & corrosion resistance, and is widely used in titanium dioxide production, coatings, ceramics, welding materials and abrasives.

Rutile Powder

Rutile powder refers to the finely ground, particulate form of rutile, a titanium dioxide (TiO₂)-based material. It serves as a critical intermediate and functional raw material across several high-tech and industrial sectors, valued for its exceptional purity, stability, and versatile properties.

our applications

Rutile powder serves as the essential feedstock for chloride-process titanium dioxide pigment, a vital component in high-quality welding consumables, a key additive for ceramics and functional coatings, and a critical performance filler in advanced polymers and composites.

Frequently asked questions

Rutile powder is a fine processed product of natural/synthetic rutile with high TiO₂ content (90%+). It features excellent physical and chemical properties like high hardness, high refractive index, strong weather and corrosion resistance. As a key industrial powder material, it’s widely used in rutile titanium dioxide production, coatings, ceramics, welding materials and abrasive manufacturing.

What Are The Main Grades Of Rutile Powder?
Rutile Powder Ti02 is 80%-95%
Where ls Rutile Powder Primarily Mined?
Major global sources include Mozambique, Australia ,and Sierra Leone.
What is rutile powder?
Rutile powder is a primary, untreated titanium dioxide product, produced by physically grinding natural, calcined, or synthetic rutile, typically with over 90% TiO₂ content. It is an industrial feedstock.
What are the common packaging specifications for rutile powder
1 ton bulk bags;25kg pp/paper bags into 1 ton
jumbo bag PP woven bag lined with PE film
Can rutile powder be used directly as a pigment in paints?
No, it cannot be used directly. Untreated rutile powder is far inferior to coated rutile-type titanium dioxide pigment in terms of weatherability, dispersibility, and opacity. Its primary role is as the key raw material for producing such high-end pigments. It may be added in small quantities as a filler or for partial opacity in some functional primers or industrial coatings where whiteness is not critical, but this is not its main application.
