Ilmenite

Ilmenite is a primary and economically critical iron-titanium oxide mineral, and it represents the most abundant and widely distributed source of titanium globally.

Ilmenite

Ilmenite concentrate primarily consists of 40%-60% titanium dioxide (TiO₂), along with ferric oxide (Fe₂O₃) and ferrous oxide (FeO). It also contains trace elements such as phosphorus, sulfur, magnesium, and calcium. Ilmenite concentrate serves as a raw material for producing reduced titanium, high-titanium slag, titanium dioxide, acidic slag, titanium tetrachloride, titanium sponge, and can also be used in the manufacture of welding electrodes.

our applications

Ilmenite is primarily processed to serve as the essential feedstock for the global titanium industry. Its main application lies in being upgraded into high-titanium slag or synthetic rutile, which are the dominant raw materials for manufacturing titanium dioxide pigment via the modern chloride process—a key component in paints, plastics, and coatings. Furthermore, processed ilmenite is a crucial source for producing titanium tetrachloride, sometimes directly used in welding electrode coatings and in the production of ferrotitanium alloys.
